God of quiet mornings
God of busy days
God of painful midnight heartbreaks,
guard and guide me in my ways.
I have hurt your children
And your children have hurt me
But I've been loved by them as well-
your hands and feet and arms to me.
There are moments when exultation
and jubilant praise flow from my heart
But right now it's more lament
and cry for help that are my part.
It seems so weak and foolish
To need help for such small things
But strong are those who ask for help
and know the healing the Comforter brings.
Today my prayer is wisdom,
To give my love for free,
For hanging on, for letting go,
For knowing that you walk with me,
